Yeah.. But anyway; why?? Maybe it’ll be explained in the 6th season.. though honestly I doubt it… however it’s not bad when story has some mystery moments, I think. it kinda gives to audience a chance to solve a riddle by themselves, to feel like being Sherlock Holms

Here’s the polar bear answer. Darhma Initiative brought them over and trained them to push buttons, pull levers, in the cages for food to train them to go into the ice cave where the wheel is to move the island. The bears move the wheel hoping for food and are transported to Tunisia and die, which is where Charolette found polar bear bones on an expedition with a dharma collar on. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

remember the cages when sawyer and kate where captured by “the others” back when Ben needed Jack to operate on his spine?

they belonged to Dharma, they where conducting experiments with bears back in the days
